|Barry Gelston, M. Ed., President
Mr. Gelston has been a member of GHF for 5 years, primarily as an professional member. Barry is the owner of Mr. Gelston’s One Room Schoolhouse which services the needs of the gifted homeschool community. Mr. Gelston has previous non-profit experience as Finance Chair of SENG, Co-President of his son’s after-school program, and as a regional fundraising director for a Citizen Action affiliate. Recently, Barry played a key role from the Finance Chair position for SENG during their Executive Director transition launching the new Interim Executive Director. Barry has been a member of GHF since 2012.
|Lindsey Nelson, Treasurer
Lindsey Nelson is a mechanical engineer and engineering educator living in Washington, DC. Lindsey grew up as a gifted kid in northeastern Minnesota and was blessed to have a mother who searched out a wide range of academic and enrichment opportunities suited to gifted learners. Lindsey holds a BS in Mechanical Engineering from Boston University and a MS in Engineering Education from Purdue University. While completing coursework in Engineering Education, Lindsey completed 9 graduate credit hours in gifted education. Additionally, Lindsey has served as an instructor for Johns Hopkins Center for Talented Youth summer programs. Lindsey owns Opportunity Unlocked, which focuses on expanding access to affordable, relevant, and fun engineering education through delivering online classes.
|Maria Roth, Secretary
Maria Roth is a long-time homeschooling parent who lives in Vancouver, BC. She has worked and volunteered in the non-profit sector for twenty years, including children’s education, post-secondary, museums, art/craft, and non-profit housing, with substantial board work as treasurer and secretary. With an M.A. in anthropology and museum studies from the University of British Columbia, her professional background includes qualitative research, graphic and interactive design and most recently, running an independent design studio.
